Whitman Council on Aging Recommends New Board Member

Council on Aging · Meeting of September 9, 2026

Whitman Council on Aging recommends new board member after summer break. Meeting for the first time since May after low summer attendance left it without a quorum, the board voted unanimously to recommend longtime van volunteer Joe for appointment to the board, filling the seat of outgoing member Karen, who moved out of town. The board also confirmed Denise as chairperson and Tom as vice chair for another term and approved its financial report.

Fuel assistance volunteer John Noska heads into annual recertification training this month ahead of the program's September-to-April season, while outreach worker Jill said she already has 42 appointments booked for Medicare's fall open enrollment period. Joe, a Whitman resident of more than 40 years, said he stayed involved because "I love it." The October meeting was moved up a week, to Oct. 7, around a staff wedding.
