Whitman Conservation Commission approves Harvard Street development, reorganizes leadership

WHITMAN — July 15, 2025 — Whitman Conservation Commission re-elects Sandy Cortez as chair and approves two development hearings in a busy July 15 session. Cortez, who said she has served on the commission for more than 20 years, was returned to the chair unanimously, with Brian continuing as vice chair. The commission approved a Notice of Intent for a 30-unit residential project at 447 Harvard Street — filed by Steve Egan of Egan Development — contingent on submission of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and a Construction General Permit, with the applicant eyeing a September construction start. The commission also closed a resource delineation hearing for a 3.3-acre parcel at 25 Rye Hill Street, locking a revised wetland boundary line in place for three years after field adjustments moved the line up to 30 feet closer to the property edge. The commission approved invoices of $1,424.60 for Harding Pond and $1,972 for Hobart Pond, and paid $260 in MACC dues for fiscal years 2025-2026.
