Zoning Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026

WHITMAN — The Whitman Zoning Board of Appeals approved variances for a scaled-down Cherry Street condominium project and a special permit for a Bedford Street landscaping yard. Chair John Goldrosen presided as the board voted 5-0 to grant site plan approval and zoning relief for a three-unit building at 96 Cherry Street, down from four units proposed earlier, after the developer widened the driveway from 23 to 33 feet and cut building height by four feet to satisfy fire department access concerns. Member Ed Winnett said the design team "did a really great job updating everything that we've asked for." Separately, the board voted 5-0 to let Leonard Landscaping store vehicles and materials at 293 Bedford Street, conditioned on the office never being used as a residence and an existing garage being removed.

Resident Alan Masterson, who lives across from the Cherry Street site, raised no objection to the project but flagged the street's deteriorated pavement.
