WHITMAN — The Whitman Conservation Commission set an August 28 deadline for the contractor on the Whitman Middle School drainage project to fix failing erosion controls or face a shutdown. Members said erosion behind a rebuilt retaining wall near the school had gone unaddressed for a month, warning "we will issue a work order enforcement, and we will shut you down." Separately, the commission unanimously approved a Notice of Intent for an addition at 9 Wild Turkey Lane filed by Oliver Onesco through Cowden Construction, and unanimously extended Rose Place LLC's detention basin permit to January 22, 2029. The commission also opened an inquiry into unpermitted fill and patio work at 154 Auburn Street, where homeowner Ken Scully said he was unaware his property carried wetlands restrictions: "I paid taxes on this land that I can't do nothing with."
