Conservation · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Whitman's Conservation Commission extended a wetlands permit and advanced a bylaw rewrite toward two public hearings. The commission voted unanimously to extend an order-of-conditions permit, file 340-0475, for owners Dennis and Terry Smith at 250 Stetson Street, after Chair Sandra Cortez said the permit was about a week from expiring with work unfinished. Members also approved payroll warrants for September 19 and September 26, 2026.
Cortez reported site inspections at an Abington stormwater-basin project affecting Whitman drainage and at 870 Temple Street, where erosion controls held through a recent storm. The commission's wetlands bylaw rewrite moves to public hearings October 14 and October 17, with Cortez saying enforcement letters would carry "a hundred dollar fine" for non-responsive violators, and a possible Town Meeting vote as early as January 25.
