Whitman Aid Fund Adopts Email Address, Eyes Business Donation Drive
WHITMAN — July 9, 2025 — Whitman's Aid to the Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund Committee voted unanimously to adopt taxaid@whitman-ma.gov as its official email address and approved the corresponding town website URL path at its July 9 meeting. The committee, which has no dedicated budget and collected just $46 in donations on the first day tax bills went out this fiscal year, discussed a mechanism for accepting check donations through the collector's office using real estate bill numbers, and reviewed a revised application form updated to reflect fiscal year 2025 median income figures. Committee member John Galvin reported that IT Director Josh McNeil has begun building a dedicated town website page for the fund and is exploring town-wide adoption of Venmo and PayPal. Galvin also described a shared spreadsheet of roughly 150 Whitman businesses targeted for a donation outreach campaign, with committee members expected to divide the list once a Microsoft OneDrive file-sharing arrangement is finalized. The committee's next meeting is scheduled for August 20, 2025.
