Whitman Board of Assessors Approves $20,800 in Exemptions, Posts Principal Assessor Vacancy

WHITMAN — December 9, 2025 — Whitman Board of Assessors approves $20,800 in exemptions and a $40,941 excise warrant while posting a principal assessor vacancy. At the December 9 meeting, the board unanimously approved five categories of statutory exemptions — including six clause 41C senior exemptions totaling $7,500, six clause 22E disabled veteran exemptions totaling $6,000, seven clause 37A exemptions totaling $3,500, seven clause 22 exemptions totaling $2,800, and one clause 22D full exemption of $100,000 — along with a motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment of $40,941.89 and three years of motor vehicle abatements totaling $3,208.09. Two Community Preservation Act exemptions were deferred to January pending Department of Local Services review. The board announced the principal assessor position is open, with resumes accepted through the town administrator's office, as the annual real estate commitment warrant is due to be signed by December 16 and bills mailed by December 31.
