Whitman Board of Health Cancels Annual Drug and Sharps Take-Back Day

WHITMAN — October 20, 2025 — Whitman Board of Health cancels its annual sharps and drug take-back event, citing budget cuts. The two-member quorum — Jamie Rhynd and Danielle Clancy, with Tom Evans absent — met for just five minutes on October 20, approving routine reports and licenses before turning to internal business. A board member announced neither the Board of Health nor, to the board's knowledge, the Whitman Police Department will hold a take-back event this year; a spring date remains to be determined. Residents were directed to separate drug and sharps drop-off bins at the Whitman Police Station, available 24 hours a day. The board's next meeting is set for November 17 at 5:30 p.m.
