Whitman Board of Health Sets October 20 Meeting, Clears Routine Business

WHITMAN — September 8, 2025 — Whitman's first cannabis dispensary is poised to open on Bedford Street, Health Agent Dan Kelly told the Board of Health at its September 8 meeting. Kelly reported that Berkeley Botanicals had cleared its first inspection and could open within days, telling the two-member board it would "bring in some tax dollars to the town of Whitman." Members Danielle Clancy and Tom Evans, meeting without absent member Jamie Rhynd, approved routine items — including the health agent's report, the public health nurses' report, and licenses as issued — each by 2-0 votes in a session that lasted five minutes. The board also rescheduled its next meeting to October 20 at 5:30 p.m. after recognizing that its originally proposed October 13 date fell on Columbus Day. Kelly separately noted that Whitman recently co-hosted a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day with Hanson, East Bridgewater, and Abington, held this year in East Bridgewater.
