Whitman DPW Building Committee Approves $1 Million-Plus in Project Payments
WHITMAN — May 12, 2025 — Whitman's DPW Building Committee unanimously approved more than $1 million in payments and set a partial move-in date of May 19 for the new facility. The committee voted to pay the 14th construction requisition of $1,012,756.36, a $20,000 invoice to construction monitoring firm CMS, and a $62,010 equipment invoice to Lappin's Garage covering tire changers, a balancer, and a tool set. Construction manager Scott told the committee the project is approximately 82 percent complete with an administrative wing that is "pretty much substantially complete," permanent power live since late April, and mechanical system start-ups scheduled for May 14 and 15. Change Order 6 set the revised contract completion date at July 31 and left $962,585 in contingency — a negative 16.1 percent drawdown. The committee agreed it would not authorize the partial move of highway equipment into the new building's vehicle bays until the building inspector issues a written temporary partial certificate of occupancy, with committee member Rick Anderson noting a builder's risk insurance requirement for written sign-off before any materials are moved in.
