Whitman DPW Building Committee Approves $6,281 Payment Batch, Plans December Close-Out

WHITMAN — November 17, 2025 — Whitman's QPW Building Committee approved a revised $6,281.25 payment batch and targeted December 8 for its final formal meeting as the new DPW facility nears close-out. The committee had initially been presented with a $66,281.25 payment list covering six vendors — including $60,000 to Construction Monitoring Services, $4,500 to William Hogan Electrical, and smaller charges to Trio Cafe, ATL Construction, Amazon Business, and a reimbursement to Bruce Martin — before learning mid-meeting that the $60,000 had already been paid following a prior vote. Members flagged a persistent drainage problem at the site entrance, saying contractor Pompeo's remediation work left the catch basin untouched and water still pooling, and agreed to bring the civil engineer back for an inspection before winter. The committee also pushed back on the owner's project manager drafting DCAM contractor evaluations on their behalf, saying "it is supposed to be the town doing the evaluation, not the OPM." Town counsel has advised the committee should not formally dissolve until after the one-year contractor warranty expires, keeping it active into 2026.
