Whitman Recreation Commission Approves Open Space Support Letter, Plans Halloween Event

WHITMAN — October 16, 2025 — Whitman Recreation Commission approves open space support letter and finalizes Halloween Town Hall event for October 28. The commission unanimously backed a letter authored by Chair Ryan Tully endorsing the town's updated Open Space and Recreation Plan, to be submitted to a Division of Conservation Services contact and included in the planner's final report to the Select Board. A drop-in Halloween trick-or-treat event, approved by the Select Board after outreach coordinated through town administrator Marybeth, will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, with town departments distributing candy and craft activities available for children. On finances, Tully reported roughly $32,000 in the revolving fund heading into FY2027 budget planning, with a $613 pool pump-room electric bill and a final pool company invoice still outstanding against a season that cost approximately $190,000 in staffing alone.
