Whitman Zoning Board Unanimously Approves Wild Turkey Lane Accessory Dwelling Unit

WHITMAN — May 18, 2026 — Whitman Zoning Board approves a second-floor accessory dwelling unit at 9 Wild Turkey Lane. The board voted 5-0 at its May 18 meeting to grant site plan approval to owner Oliver Onesco for a one-bedroom ADU, roughly 500 square feet, to be built above a new side addition to his home in the A2 district. Contractor Callahan Construction Incorporated presented plans showing a single exterior entry door leading to a shared foyer, with separate interior doors to the main house and an internal staircase to the ADU, plus a rear exterior egress staircase. The Planning Board had already recommended approval in a unanimous 4-0 vote at its April 28 meeting. Chair John Goldrosen pressed the contractor on fire separation requirements and potential wetlands proximity, advising consultation with Building Commissioner Jim Yule on both points before work begins. The board also previewed a heavy summer docket, including a seven-duplex condominium proposal at 25 Rye Hill Street set for June 29 and an ADU demolition-and-rebuild at 138 South Ave. targeted for July 20.
