Planning Board · Meeting of June 23, 2026

Whitman Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend two housing projects to the Zoning Board of Appeals, with conditions attached to each. Assistant Chairman Robert Kimball and Clerk Jeffrey Sargis led the review in Chair Adam Somerville's absence. The board backed a four-unit, three-bedroom building at 26 Cherry Street pending a turning-radius review of its driveway, and it endorsed developer Steve Egan's revised 447 Harvard Street senior development, which trades duplexes for 13 single-family homes plus two new garden-style apartment buildings, requiring Egan to build the apartments before finishing a set number of houses.

Resident Don Byers noted Whitman's Chapter 40B affordable-housing share is "3.8 percent," against a 10 percent goal. Single-family units at the Harvard Street site are listed around "709,000," Kimball said.
