WHITMAN — The Whitman Planning Board voted to recommend denying a 14-unit duplex development on Rye Hill Street. The panel voted 4-0, with one member recused for living across the street, to send an unfavorable recommendation to the Zoning Board of Appeals on McQuinn Realty Trust's bid to build seven duplexes on a 3.309-acre Residential A1 lot. Members said "the development is too dense for the size of a buildable area on the lot" and raised concerns about emergency vehicle access on the steep, dead-end street and inadequate parking beyond visitor spots.
Separately, the board voted 4-0 to appoint Kimberly Somerville as recording secretary over applicant Joshua Krueger, after Assistant Town Administrator Kathy Keefe advised no in-person interview was required. Members Elaine Bergeron and Brandon Griffin were recognized at their final meeting on the board.
