Other Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026
Whitman's Recreation Commission moved this year's trick-or-treating event into the town hall basement because early voting will occupy the usual auditorium space. The Recreation Director said early voting runs until roughly 7:30 p.m. that Tuesday, based on information from Dawn Farley, prompting plans to decorate bags, run a fog machine and post signage directing families to the Lower Town Meeting Hall basement entrance. The director separately floated a $15,000 fiscal 2028 expense-line request to shift pool-opening, electricity and phone costs onto the town budget, and said she will keep pushing the capital committee to have the town absorb the department's electric bill, calling it a potential "huge" savings.
Members also discussed a possible dog park behind the Memorial Field bleachers, pending a community survey, and set the commission's next meeting for Thursday, January 14.
