Whitman Zoning Board Approves Special Permit for Tattoo Shop at South Ave.

WHITMAN — December 1, 2025 — Whitman's Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a special permit for a tattoo and body-piercing shop at 356 South Ave. Chair John Goldrosen and members Richard Blosz, Bob Curran, Bob Kimball, and Mr. Jones voted 5-0 to allow Squids Inc., a business operating since 2011 with locations previously in Hanover and Pembroke, to open in Suite 4B of a W.D. Walker Development industrial property. The permit, granted under section 240-5.4 E-9, comes with conditions including a 9 a.m.-to-10 p.m. operating window seven days a week, mandatory Board of Health licensing before opening, compliance with six fire-department plan corrections cited by Deputy Chief Nicholas Grasso, a maintained biohazard waste removal contract, and a requirement that employees park at the side or rear of the building. Co-owner Keith White said the business, which employs up to six people at a time including a receptionist, aims to be operational before its current Pembroke lease expires March 1, 2026.
