Whitman Elder Tax Fund Eyes June Application Launch Ahead of Whitman Day

WHITMAN — May 13, 2026 — Whitman's Aid to the Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund approved plans to release its assistance application before June 14 and coordinate a joint presence at Whitman Day. The fund's corrected balance stands at $4,780.94 after a payment-center coding error caused 47 donors to inadvertently short their tax bills, resulting in a net $63 loss to the fund. Guest John Galvin of the affiliated Friends of the Whitman Aid to the Elderly and Disabled Committee — which received its 501(c)3 designation last week — reported the group holds $2,600 following a March Madness fundraiser that raised just over $2,000, with a trivia night fundraiser set for June 17 at the Knights of Columbus. Chair Ryan Trestle said combined funds of at least $7,000 are expected to be available for distribution, with no fixed per-applicant award amount set, preserving flexibility for the committee to respond to individual financial circumstances.
